The Blog Post That Every Control
Freak Should Read Pt. 2

Remember in the last blog post when I said God has no problem switching everything up?

You’ll never believe this. As soon as I finished writing that post, that’s exactly what He did. The shortened version is that my marketing director and I had beef lol and you know what that means. For the sake of integrity, let’s just say that the beef came with sweet and hot peppers, a side of fries, a coke, some cheesecake and don’t forget the onion rings okay?! You get my point.

Growing a Team

It’s funny because I felt like I had finally come to a place in my business where things were running smoothly. If you’re an entrepreneur, you know how difficult the process of starting up and scaling your business can be. But if I’m being transparent, I got so consumed by the needs within my business that performance overshadowed my responsibility to assess character. What a lesson!

As you grow into who God has called you to be, it will be impossible to see eye-to-eye with everyone. They won’t always understand or even see your vision. Be okay with that! Not only that, but everyone you start with won’t always scale with you. They can’t always go where you’re going. Be okay with that too! God knows what He’s doing with your life no matter what it looks like right now.

If you would have told me a month ago that I would be on my 3rd draft of creating the Break Free book cover, I would have told you that you were crazy. But here we are! We’ve only been through like 50 million changes since January 1st. What’s one more? LOL

Remaining Flexible and Humble

That’s the thing about living for God. You must be diligent enough to persevere when pursuing your dreams, but flexible and humble enough to throw every plan you have out the window when God says move. Think about the disciples. Jesus gave them the option to stay where they were or drop everything and follow Him. That’s the way God works. It’s all or nothing.

One of the hardest things to do when you are growing in God is being willing to let go of what you had in mind. That’s exactly what I had to do with this book cover. The very thing I did not want is the very thing God did. I did not want my face on this cover! Point. Blank. Period. But after Wakanda Forever, Women’s month, April showers, the blog post every control freak should read part 1 AND 2, here we are again!

Bottom line. We have a way of doing things and God has a way of doing things. Guess who’s way is best? It’s only when we intentionally surrender to His will and His way that we can have His results and live our best lives. So often, we glamorize receiving the promises of God, but we forget to really count the cost.

Focusing on Your Race

All of our journeys are different because we all have different destinies. Some will finish their book cover on the first round and others will finish on the third or fourth. The key is to focus on running YOUR race. You won’t always know how you’ll get to the finish line. But just keep running!

I don’t know what race you’re running in your life right now – it can be building your business, managing your health, growing in a relationship, or just growing in God altogether – but I encourage you to do exactly what God has been telling me to do.

Rest.

I know this sounds ridiculous because how can you run and rest at the same time? They are two opposite behaviors and they require two different types of energy, but that’s what we have to master as believers. Running and resting.

Running and Resting

The Bible talks about us laboring so that we can enter into God’s rest (Hebrews 4:11). It means we have to labor in the things of the Spirit by spending time with God, praying, and reading His Word.

It’s easier said than done because we live in a world full of distractions. But thank God for grace! His grace helps us rest even as we power through the things He’s called us to do. Rest in His love for you. Rest in His faithfulness. Rest in His peace. Rest in His provision, His protection, His wisdom, His grace, and His plan.

So glory to God! Here we are with the final Break Free book cover. Not the one I originally envisioned. Not the one the marketing director suggested. But the one that God chose.

If you’re eager to see what the book cover looks like, or on a more serious note, if you’re looking to figure out the “how to” on receiving God’s best for your life purchase my book, Break Free: Unlock your God Given Potential and Release your Unstoppable.
